Summary/Abstract: The Court of Accounts of Romania produced the Public Report of the Court of Accounts for the year 2020 in a new format, with significant changes in structure and approach. In the context of the institutional reform process it is going through and each goal is to strengthen the capacities to carry out external public audit activity in accordance with international standards in the field and with the expectations of companies, the Court of Accounts of Romania was the subject of two international evaluations, embodied in a series of recommendations. At the same time, for a better understanding of the whole, the Public Report of the Court of Accounts for the year 2020 made a presentation of the results of the audit activity concentrated within the fields of activity, the presentation of which broadly followed the configuration established by the audit unit coordination of strategies within the Government. In the field of public finance, the Ministry of Public Finance followed the operative execution of the general consolidated budget and established the necessary measures for the collection of revenues and the limitation of expenses, in order to fit into the approved budget deficit. With all these measures, in 2020, Romania recorded a general consolidated budget deficit of 9.4% of GDP, higher than the European average of 6.9%.
