Summary/Abstract: The author of the new international catalogue of folk-tale types presents detailed information on his method in compiling, arranging and structuring the work in which all known international folk-tale themes and motifs are arranged according to the numeric classification. Providing new information, the catalogue is a continuation of the earlier folk-tale theme systematics introduced by Annti Aarne and Stith Thompson. The present paper is a translation from German
