Summary/Abstract: Following the contemporary trend of live-action remakes of classic children’s films, the study offers a cognitive approach to children’s adaptations at the intersection of adaptation studies and the cognitive branch of non-radical constructivism. After a brief theoretical-metho- dological introduction an interpretation of two film versions of Pinocchio from 2022 is presented. The article will demonstrate how the latest adapta- tions Pinocchio by Robert Zemeckis and Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio by Guillermo del Toro and Mark Gustafson, offer children the opposite direction of experience in the theme of accepting their own identity. This will be evident despite their very si- milar departure from the traditional paradigm of Pinocchio stories.
