Summary/Abstract: The article aims to determine the perception of the representatives of Generation Z toward the driving forces in the process of setting up a startup. The goal was achieved by reviewing the literature and conducting a survey. The results were interpreted using statistical analysis tools. The practical part of the article presents the results of a survey conducted among Generation Z participants. Based on the conducted research, it can be concluded that new technologies, investment funds, knowledge, experience, and contact with people establishing and managing startups have the greatest impact on the willingness of young people to set up startups. Surprisingly, Generation Z is only slightly motivated by cooperation with universities, institutional solutions, accelerators, technology parks, and the fourth industrial revolution. This may be due to a lack of understanding of the institutional ideas or the principles of operation. The opinions of women and men from Generation Z differ significantly regarding the influence of driving forces that motivate them to set up startups. The conducted research is one of the first in Poland and is an inspiration for the next ones. The value of the article is the identification of the driving forces behind the surveyed representatives of Generation Z who set up a startup. Identification of the respondents’ lack of appreciation for the importance of some forces indicates a need to initiate education in these areas.
