Summary/Abstract: The paper analyses the textbooks: “Social Studies”, published in Montenegro after the international recognition of state independence in 2006. The subject of the analysis are two textbooks for the fourth grade of primary school (Podgorica, 2009, 2018), and the textbook for the fifth grade of primary school (Podgorica, 2018). The aim of the paper is to point out that the analysed textbooks have numerous shortcomings that goes from the lack of adaptation to the population for which they are intended, illogicality, contradictions, bureaucratic vocabulary, to material errors, which greatly complicates the understanding of the teaching contents for the young generation, from which they acquire unclear and incorrect knowledge about Montenegro, interpersonal relations and national history.
