Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with the basic elements of film art as well as the evolution of the film medium. The film, as a medium of storytelling, experiences changes due to the advancement of technology, and the production of a film in an amateur context becomes more accessible and democratic. The authors of the text discuss the technical elements of storytelling in film, and regardless of technological improvement, the quality of the narrative remains at the center of craftsmanship. The importance of handling the basic elements of the camera and editing, and the creation of an emotional correspondence between the film and the audience, is emphasized. In addition to the aspect of storytelling and entertainment, the film inevitably affects a change in cultural and social perspectives. In the past years, digital technology has brought about changes in the understanding of film reality, and the future has the tendency to transform from a film performance into a film experience. The authors discuss the elementary aspects of the film, which regardless of technological aspirations, will remain essential in filmmaking.
