Summary/Abstract: As part of the research task entitled ‘Optimisation of evidence, forensicand covert procedures in economic crime cases from the viewpoint of law enforcementagencies’ there has been carried out empirical research to analyse this type of crimein the following areas: the scale and dynamics of economic crime, and investigativeand procedural problems law enforcement agencies face to effectively combat economiccrime. To verify the adopted research hypotheses, a survey among police officers hasbeen conducted and the analysis of the statistical data obtained from the NationalPolice Information System in 2013–2018 of the Criminal Intelligence Bureau at theNational Police Headquarters has been made. The two-dimensional exploration hasmade the identification of existing interdependencies possible, which could not beidentified by a questionnaire survey only. Moreover, several sources of informationused in the research process has deepened the empirical aspect of the issues in ques-tion and given the research process an analytical dimension. The presentation of allresearch findings significantly exceeds the scope of this study, therefore only thoserelated to the statistics, presented in both graphical and descriptive forms, have beenincluded in this article
