Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article was to examine the opinions of Polish medieval authors of historiographical texts about the Germans and their states: about the Empire and later German territorial states – Poland’s neighbours. Due to the large number of sources, this article only contains information on selected opinions that illustrate the main trends. In addition, the author attempted to find the cultural basis for formulated views.
