ГРАДСКИТЕ АРХИВИ КАКО ЧУВАРИ НА МАКЕДОНСКОТО КУЛТУРНО НАСЛЕДСТВО
The City Archives аs Guardians оf Macedonian Cultural Heritage

Summary/Abstract: This paper concerns the protection of the archive material which we can find in the Macedonian city archives proclaimed as authorized entities responsible for the preservation and protection of cultural heritage. The main topic was about the conventional and unconventional archive material, including the collection of music instruments as a tangible cultural heritage preserved in the Institute of folklore “Marko Cepenkov” in Skopje and about the mechanisms of its protection. In the mentioned archival fund, there is a lot of data saved on the old paper and on the older audio and video records, and some of the musical instruments from the institute collection are not in a good functional shape. So, all of these materials can be destroyed and decayed further and further due to conditions to which they are exposed and the time as a factor, and the main goal of this paper is to be an awakening call for the importance of these archival materials and that we should take all the measures and actions to preserve them in their appropriate digitalized form (for the old paper and audio/video recordings) and appropriate conservation of the musical instruments.
