Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article is to present the world of values inscribed in Polish Extracts for the classes of lower secondary and real schools by Stanisław Tarnowski and Franciszek Próchnicki. After discussing the structure of the school textbook, there were presented ways of creating of the autors’ biographies with the presentation of their didactic message. Then attention was focused on the characteristics of the writers by Tarnowski. The statement ends with considerations that are the answer to the question to what extent the comments of the Krakow professor in Extracts… met the assumptions of such publications.
