Summary/Abstract: In this paper, I would like to explain how people who consider themselves believers come to explain and justify their violence, declare that their violent deeds are holy deeds, and are incapable of any form of responsibility. The theme of this paper, therefore, is the claim that violence is founded on idolatry, and that it is idolatry that makes any form of responsibility impossible. In the first part of this paper, I will discuss different kinds of responsibility, and seek to demonstrate that there is more than one kind of responsibility in Bosnia. In the second part, I will claim that in theological research we have come to the conclusion that idolatry is a danger inherent in every religion. In the third part, I will examine the way in which people who consider themselves believers explain and justify their misdeeds.
