Summary/Abstract: The publication represents an old printed book from the 16th century – Le navigationi et viaggi fatti nella Turchia di Nicolo de Nicolai del Delfinato, signor d’Arfevilla, cameriere et geografo ordinario del Re di Francia (Travels in Turkey), stored in the National Library of Bulgaria. It is a part of the virtual project “Pearls of the Crown”. The book arouses curiosity with its content but mostly with its images. In addition to the descriptive geography the book covers all aspects of life, rituals, costumes, religious practices, army and history and is hailed as one of the earliest and most accurate depictions of the Islamic world to appear in Europe.
