Summary/Abstract: This paper analyzes two manuscript works by the great Bosniac scholar Hasan Kafi Pruščak (d. 1615) on Arabic stylistics, entitled Tamhisu’t-Talkhis and Sharh Tamhisi’t-Talkhis. Both works deal with Arabic stylistics in the Qur’an and Arabic literature, thus combining at-tafsiru’l bayaniyy (stylistic tafsir) and ‘ilmu’l balagha (the science of style). The paper begins by outlining the basic features of the manuscript of the Tamhis and the transcript of the Sharh, attl testing to their originality, and provides a brief overview of the contents of the Tamhis. The central section of the paper is an analysis of the examples taken by Kafi in his works, based on the Qur’an, in the context of the three classic disciplines of Arabic stylistics (syntatic stylistics – ‘ilmu’l-ma’ani; semantic stylistics – ‘ilmu’l-bayan, and tropics – ‘ilmu’l-badi’). The paper concludes by setting out the author’s principal conclusions and views on Hasan Kafi Pruščak as a brilliant connoisseur of classical Arabic stylistics and its main disciplines, the stylistics, semantics and tropics of the Qur’an.
