Summary/Abstract: RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: The aim of the article is to show the degree of saturation with disability- related content and the ways of its presentation in series, television programs and films most often watched by children and adolescents. THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: The main research problem is to determine how often the target of disability is undertaken and how it is presented in the analysed media messages. The method used in research was the content analysis. THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: The analysis of the representation of disability in mass media includes a reference to the concept of disability, description of the importance of mass media in the perception of people with disabilities and research results. RESEARCH RESULTS: The issue of disability appeared sporadically in the analysed television broadcasts. The dominant ways of presenting disability are as follows: a source of suffering, dependency and dependence or an obstacle overcome by above-average individuals. CONCLUSIONS, INNOVATIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS: Stereotypical media discourse about people with disabilities may be an objective reason for their marginalization. There is a need for appropriate educational impact in order to build a positive perception of this category of people, which may include the presentation of relevant content and media literacy in this area.
