Summary/Abstract: The European Union has set ambitious and demanding goals: improved the living conditions of people, provide sustainable and inclusive growth, higher level of employment and ensuring the sustainability of public finances and provide support and promote the same on national levels of member states. Although, the Lisbon strategy has proved as European Unions most relevant strategic action and development plan, therefore new reforms need to be reconstructed as strategy Europe 2020. Therefor, from 2011 Lisbon Strategy will replace Europe 2020 as new strategic framework for economic reforms an EU level. Briefly, we will present the analyse of achievements and weaknesses of the Lisbon strategy and show prospects and challenges of strategy Europe 2020. Whit these and similar topics we impact on awareness of effective implementation of reforms in Bosnia and Herzegovina as a prerequsite for successful functioning of the state and obtaining candidate status for EU membership.
