Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to present the application of Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights from the perspective of the protection of private life. Within the structure of Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights, the domain of private life is particularly significant, with a focus on the protection of physical, psychological, and moral integrity. In this context, the paper presents the domestic and international legal frameworks related to domestic violence, as well as the application of international standards aimed at combating the occurrence of domestic violence cases. Furthermore, the paper provides a detailed overview of the legal framework in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the scope of the problem of domestic violence, with a special focus on legislative changes. The final part of the paper presents an overview of domestic violence cases in the UnaSana Canton during the period from January 1, 2021, to June 30, 2022, with comparative data on reported cases of domestic violence for the years 2019 and 2020. The methods used in this paper include analysis and synthesis, legal-normative methods, inductive and deductive methods, compilation methods, comparative methods, and statistical methods.
