A Critical Take on Intersectional Feminism from the Perspective of Feminist Social Reproduction Theory

Summary/Abstract: The article critically examines intersectional feminism, which today is one of the mostwidespread and popular methodologies in the field of gender, race, and class studies.A reconstruction of the main axes of the discussion held since the 1970s about causesof women’s oppression exposes the intersectional perspective’s weaknesses, whichprovides us with no reliable tools for analyzing the relationship between different systemsof oppression. The article focuses on feminist social reproduction theory, whose analysis– focused on examining relations through the lens of reproductive work – is an approachthat allows us to transcend the limitations of identity discourses in which contemporaryfeminist theories, including intersectional feminism, have become embroiled.
