Summary/Abstract: The article presents the mutual relations linking the Polish Tatars with the Crimean Tatars after the annexation of the Crimean peninsula by Russia in 2014. The text consists of three parts preceded by an introduction, which describes the historical context of the problem at hand. The main part of the article identifies the basic issues related to the number and social position of Crimean Tatars, forming a migrant diaspora in Poland. Then, on the basis of empirical research, the specifics of the perception of Crimean Tatars by Polish Tatars were discussed. In doing so, special attention was paid to a classification of the differences separating the two Tatar ethnises. This classification made it possible to refer to mutual contacts and levels of cooperation between Polish and Crimean Tatars. In the final conclusions, the author states that the process of evolution of relations from the imagined and idealized memory of origin to the building of a real existing community is not yet completed.
