Summary/Abstract: Carbon dioxide is a man-made greenhouse gas that affects the climate and results in global warming. A possible solution to reduce greenhouse gas emissions is to tinker and levy a tax on carbon emissions. The purpose of this paper is to analyse the link between the environmental tax and carbon emissions, more precisely, to determine what impact the increase in the environmental tax has on the reduction of carbon emissions. For this purpose, we will use Granger causality tests for a data set representing the member countries of the European Union for the years 2008-2019.
