Summary/Abstract: This paper aims at discussing the strategies that can be used in the translation of travel texts from English into Romanian, with focus on how to handle proper names. It contains culture-specific aspects denoted by them. There are also many examples of quite specialised terminology that has to do with tourism. It can be useful for both translators and teachers. Idioms, expressions, specialized vocabulary related to travelling and tourism proves to be a real challenge not only for students, but also for English speakers, especially when it comes of their understanding of tourism-related texts. The present study focuses on translating Proper Names in Tourism Terminology in English and Romanian. This paper scratched the surface of what a corpus can reveal and may give you a flavour of the possibilities open to further research.
