Summary/Abstract: It is the good right of a normal consumer to trust others if they have something to tell him. However, he often has a bad experience – usually when dealing with the media or with commercials, and unfortunately only afterwards – that it is not always reliable. Last but not least, only half of the truth is revealed, which is known – according to a German proverb – “the most dangerous lie”. This article tries to show this in various aspects of public life, primarily by testing the factual perception of democracy, which is usually declared to be dominated by the rulers – based on historical evidence and scientific commentaries.
