THE PRESS DISCUSSION ABOUT LOANWORDS IN GERMAN

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the paper is to show how linguistic topics, in this case the presence of lexicological issues and infiltration of German loanwords in English (ie. anglicisms and pseudo-anglicisms), is presented to average citizens (ie. non-experts) in the German press. It is very important because it allows the social dialogue, which is later used by linguists to put forward proposals and to contribute to the possible modification of vocabulary through a real impact on the shape of the dictionaries and glossaries. The analysis was conducted on the basis of selected articles of the online editions of newspapers Die Welt and Süddeutsche Zeitung.
