Summary/Abstract: This article interprets the reports in Katarzyna Boni’s work Ganbare! Warsztaty umierania from the perspective of disaster studies, drawing upon Konrad Wojnowski’s research from his book Beneficial Catastrophes. This perspective identifies the experiences of the Japanese not only as losses, but also benefits, and reflects on the positive aspects of subsequent disasters. The author draws inspiration from the text by Jean‑Luc Nancy, After Fukushima: The Equivalence of Catastrophes. The French philosopher argues that catastrophes be treated as typical phenomena, the consequences of which have a global scope. He believes that the crisis that follows these disasters changes the view of the past and the future. The author is interested in how the survivors practice different forms of mourning and then analyzes these reports using the theories of Judith Butler and Vinciane Despret.
