Summary/Abstract: The article presents the most characteristic ways of portraying non-human characters, commonly known as animals, in human‑centric film narratives. Discursive and ideological relationships are described, along with profiling models used to present the characters. The article also discusses the genological profile, status, and functions of non‑humans in Western cinematography.
