Summary/Abstract: The article analyses the report of the ecumenical bilateral dialogue between Lutherans and Mennonites from 2010, entitled Healing Memories. Reconciling in Christ. This text is discussed as an example of a critical theological-historical analysis of the Lutheran contribution to the persecution of the 16th-century Anabaptists. It emphasizes the theological concepts of the Lutheran Reformers that provided justification for the anti-Anabaptist actions of the secular authorities. This text is also an example of jointly telling a difficult history that made it possible to reconcile both traditions.
