Model for optimal management of private library collections within the Bulgarian cultural institutions

Summary/Abstract: The articlefocuses on the problematic management aspects of valuable private libraries in an institutional environment. The presented model contains six key elements, which track the processes from the donation (acquisition) of private collections to their differentiation as a specific distinguishable resource in the library. The usage of the model in the professional practice of Bulgarian libraries would help the efficient presentation and preservation of valuable collections. This article is based on research conducted for the purposes of the author’s dissertation “Тhe private library of the Bulgarian intelectual as a research subject in the field of Library studies and Book history (1878–1944): historical and theorеtical aspects”.
