Summary/Abstract: The present study analyzes the interesting experience of following the twins’ storyline across generations in Louise Erdrich’s cyclical narrative entitled ”The Antelope Wife”. In the book there are multiple pairs of twins and many voices speaking as the narrative texture is complex and many interesting Native American cultural aspects are interwoven in order to create a very intricate pattern similar to a beadwork. The paper highlights the Ojibwa cultural aspects which play an important role in the novel. The present work tries to decipher the mysteries hidden by the several generations of twins occurring throughout the novel as well as the meaning of ”dashkika” applied to the issue of twins who are sometimes split apart as the names given to them are not sacred anymore and thus cannot offer them protection in life.
