Summary/Abstract: The article offers an overview of the organization of the academic process in the University of Kansas and focuses on the operations of the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures. It presents detailed descriptions of the undergraduate and the graduate programs as well as the rights and the responsibilities of the faculty. It raises the question of the crisis of the humanities and the declining enrollments in Slavic language and literature courses.
