Summary/Abstract: Crucial aspects and changes in German Slavic Studies since the Fall of Berlin Wall 1989 are addressed by a reconstruction of geopolitical circumstances and strategic political decisions in the sphere of university education in Federal Republic of Germany that have provided an institutional and staff matrix, which on its turn sharply reduce the scope and internal diversity of teaching programs and scientific research in the Slavic Departments.
