A comparison is made of Stanev‘s use of these quotes when he created his later works. Renan‘s reading of the biblical texts – critical, resting on the sources, done with great erudition – was necessary for him. The Perception of Faith by Em. Stanev is more in the spirit of Gnostic teachings, critical, polemical.
