Summary/Abstract: Play as an activity is most typical for children. We often think of it as entertainment, distraction, without any goal. Everyone who is involved in educational work knows that this is not so. From a developmental, pedagogical and health point of view, play is an integral, inseparable and very important part of children's growth. It is also important in the life of adults and established personalities. It is considered one of the important factors of general development, which determines the character and behavior of a person in later years even in childhood. In the light of modern civilizational achievements, modernization and digitization of society, play as a phenomenon, especially captures the attention of pedagogues, teachers and everyone who deals with children and their upbringing and education. We are looking for many answers that will provide solutions, primarily for mitigating the negative effects of modern civilization, and then also for improving the upbringing, education and health of children. In modern psychological theories and educational systems, play is understood as a type of natural learning, but it is still not fully implemented. When researching play as an activity, most will agree that through physical games and activities, especially outdoors, in nature, children improve and maintain their health, orientation, gross and fine motor skills. The questions that arise more and more for psychologists, researchers and practitioners in the educational process are: What is the impact of the game on perceptive, cognitive, social and communication abilities and skills? How does the game affect the transformation of behavior from one form to another? What impact does the game have on children's mental health? What is the role of adults in leading, selecting and organizing children's games? We will try to answer some of these questions in this paper, based on the practical experience of working in a school.
