Linguistic Aspects of Parliamentary Control

Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes the various forms of parliamentary control, their nature and consequences. Not only their legal framework is examined, but also their content and meaning, embedded through knowledge of the power of the Bulgarian language and proper handling of it. Emphasis is placed on the most frequent grammatical and speech errors made by the people’s representatives and how this aff ects the ideas they express, as well as their perception by the public. The article examines the necessity of taking measures to increase the language culture of the people‘s representatives and the members of the Council of Ministers, which would favor not only the implementation of parliamentary control, but also the other main power of the National Assembly – lawmaking.
