Summary/Abstract: ”Solomonars” are considered to be meteorological demigods. Because of the fact that there are not enough written proofs concerning the ancient mythical motives or ritual practices, as these ones have preponderantly been transmitted by word of mouth, the origin of ’Solomonars’ is uncertain, taking into account the fact that they have been associated with the Thracian – Getae priests or with Saint Elijah, or Solomon, the famous Jewish King. As far as ”Solomonars” and their initiation ritual as well as their way of living, dressing, behaving in their relationship with ordinary people are concerned, we have been offered information by geographer Strabon, Magyar shamanologist Vilmos Dioszegi, Ion Budai – Deleanu. Folklorists Traian Herseni and Traian Gherman took over and developed Solomonars’ problem indicated by Strabon, reaching the conclusion according to which these ones were the popular successors of the old orders of magician priests in our country. The Romanian fairy tales and legends capture the image of certain people characterised by their real ambition of mastering nature and atmospheric phenomena.
