Summary/Abstract: Women have always been a key element in the James Bond mythology. They have defined the British agent and his entire outlook on life. Their characterization has never been unitary, so that their image cannot be seen as homogeneous. However, You Only Live Twice represents a major setback for representations of women in Bond movies when compared to other films from the first decade of the franchise like Goldfinger or On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. This study discusses various aspect of the dynamic relationship between Bond and women in the fifth movie of the Bond franchise.
