Summary/Abstract: This article aims at investigating whether Facebook fosters or not the crystallization of a European public sphere in Romania. The paper addresses three questions: What do we know about the European public sphere? How can social media sites contribute to its birth and development?; Can we speak about a European public sphere when posting or commenting upon 2014 EP elections on Facebook? So, the article has two main goals: firstly, to provide insightful information concerning the emergence and development of a (European) public sphere on Facebook in the EP elections context; secondly, to urge researchers to include social media sites in the list of significant factors which may shape the European public sphere in Romania.
