Summary/Abstract: This study aims to offer a comparative image between the two Romanian political extremes, legionarism and communism, and, most of all, to identify similar myths embedded in their imaginaries, myths created or enforced in order to manipulate and constrain the Romanian society during the largest part of the XX-th century. Focusing the religious, social, historical and political dimensions that the two extreme movements share, my paper intends to prove, despite the so-called animosity between them, their common ideological root. The first part of this article will be centered on the mythology of the Legionnaire Movement and on the religious elements identifiable within the Marxist ideology, while the second part will analyze the metamorphosis of the myths of Romanian communism, the manipulative techniques of the two extremes and the voluntary confusion between public and private inside totalitarian regimes.
