Summary/Abstract: The article focuses on the reception of Arno Holz’s middle axis poetry in Bohemia and Moravia, which found rather rare responses in these areas. Regarding this fact, the only lyrical work “Empfindsames Notierbüchlein” (1905) by Eugen Schick, the author from Brno, deserves particular attention; both because of its form and its content that show an evident inspiration by Arno Holz’s work “Phantasus” and thereby represent one of the few works of the middle axis poetry in Bohemia and Moravia. The article should answer the question whether this work is an epigonal act, as is the case with other authors of the so-called Holz-school, or whether Schick’s poetry is of a higher rank. Firstly, the article deals with essays and articles by various Moravian writers analysing a new form of the middle axis poetry. Secondly, the above-mentioned work by Schick is considered with regard to its originality or epigonality, and put in the context of other contemporary writers of the middle axis poetry.
