Summary/Abstract: The awareness that the role of the criminal law in countering the phenomenon in question cannot be overstated is common in England. What is more important is to raise public awareness of the negative consequences of alcohol on the road traffic and to change the attitudes of citizens towards making them more disapproving of driving after alcohol consumption, and in particular a sensible anti-alcohol policy aimed at a global reduction of consumption.
