Summary/Abstract: Comparison is one of the main figures of speech in popular language. This article aims to highlight some more or less uncommon associations that this procedure implies in a series of proverbs about greed, in Romanian paremiology. In analyzing this figure of speech, we will point out certain expressive effects, which illustrate the genius of the popular creator.
