Summary/Abstract: This paper proposes for consideration the hermeneutics of the attic – a privileged space in Eliade's confessive literary imaginary. The main purpose of this paper is to highlight the way through which Eliade's attic transforms itself from a designed, perceived place into a topos of living. Taking into consideration the fact that an ample inquiry is required for researching the privileged spaces from Eliade's confession of the imaginary, this paper proves itself to be an inventory of such topos (the attic, the library and even the book itself) establish a taxonomy of them: spaces of perception, spaces of conception, spaces of representation, all favorable topos for writing and reading. Furthermore, this paper brings into discussion the unbreakable bond between the attic and the library. Both are part of a symbolical geography of Eliade's identity which acts as a spiritual binder between the proper space of the attic-library and the man that stepped inside the borders of this space and developed himself in it. Moreover, this paper brings into discussion the topic of the attic seen as a privileged space and illustrates some artistic representations of the attic as a protected space, a space of retreat, of solitude and even death. But let us not forget that even in death one can ascend in another space, a superior space, that of eternity.
