Summary/Abstract: The aim of the paper is to analyse diminutives of children’s names indicated by parents in a questionnaire survey, and also to attempt to define modern trends and mechanisms used for making diminutives. A structural classification and a frequency analysis of the collected diminutives are offered, which allow for determining the use of traditional and modern word-formation models. The investigation of the questionnaire data enables collecting various diminutives derived from one name.
