Summary/Abstract: Local magazines in the 19th century played a significant informative role in the community, publishing news important for the inhabitants of a given city and region, and at the same time bringing their audience closer to the “big world” by informing about selected events from many countries. Therefore, it is understandable that within the diverse, but usually constant columns, many names appeared – people both distinguished in many fields for Kalisz, as well as those unknown to a wider group – actors of just one mention. The aim of this article is to draw attention to the value of analyzing the content of a local magazine in terms of personal information and the role that the list of all names published in the magazine at the turn of 19th and 20th century can play in a historical research.
