Summary/Abstract: In the present contribution, the author focuses his attention on clarifying the essence and meaning of the use of logic in the process of proof. It approaches the reasons for the close connection of logic and evidence as a criminal-procedural activity, responding to the fact that the current theory of evidence and criminology are returning to the inclusion of logic in their subject of knowledge and to emphasizing the importance of this science for the process of proving and investigating crimes. Since there was no available current scientific work dealing with the application of knowledge of logic in the field of investigation and proof of criminal offenses in the long-term time context, it was desirable to follow up on publications from the past, which were devoted to the logic of investigation and were intended for the police and investigators. The works published by the founders and pioneers of applied logic became the inspiration for a new understanding of the theory of proof enriched by the use of selected categories from logic. Analyzing and investigating investigative practice and the process of proof resulted in the development of a new concept of proof theory expanded by knowledge from applied logic.
