Education of adults as support considering preparations for life crisis caused by retirement

Summary/Abstract: This work is of a theoretical-empirical nature. We did a research on the attitude of employees towards education as support for retirement preparation. The emphasis was on this important area of education that is almost neglected in our country. In the theoretical part of the research, we looked at the phenomenon of retirement and referred to several aspects of retirement. The empirical research covered 170 respondents and their attitude towards education as support for retirement preparation and included the following: employees' attitude towards education as a help to prepare for retirement, willingness and reasons for possible participation in this type of educational process, desired topics, methods and institutions which respondents prefer. It was also interesting to compare those attitudes with educational factors, individual experience of retirement, gender and age of the respondents. This research should draw attention to the fact that adult education can be a big and crucial support in preparing for retirement. The research results showed the need for this type of education gave clear messages and enabled the recommendation of an educational model and educational offer regarding the preparation for retirement in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
