Summary/Abstract: The subject of the study is the legal regime of the huchen (Hucho hucho) in Romania. After a brief review of the history of the legal regime of this species in international law, European law and national law, the legislation in force is critically analyzed, resulting in a series of pertinent conclusions regarding the interpretation of the law and the need for a revival of judicial practice in relation to these. At the same time, de lege ferenda proposals are formulated aimed at amending and/or supplementing the provisions of the Government Emergency Ordinance no. 23/2008 on fishing and aquaculture, approved by Law no. 317/2009, with subsequent amendments and additions.
