Summary/Abstract: The article presents the main methodological approaches to the development of a social portrait of single mothers in Russian society. Particular attention is paid to such integral aspects of the social portrait as the economic situation, ideological attitudes, life strategies, social well-being of this category of parents, opportunities for raising children in a favorable social environment. The concept of developing the social portrait of single mothers can be required by the authorities to determine effective ways to support and create conditions for raising children in single-mother families as a significant social group in modern Russian society.
