Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to present and discuss the vocabulary and dialectal phraseology of Cieszyn Silesia related to the devil and an attempt to present a linguistic image of the devil based on selected phrasemes. The article was divided into two parts. The first concerns the vocabulary related to the devil. All the names of the devil are listed, along with all variants occurring in the region, as well as an indication of the etymology and motivation for those where it was possible. The second part focuses on the phrasematic material. Based on the comparisons, proverbs, sentences and other word combinations excerpted from sources, a linguistic image of the devil in the regional culture is drawn: what features (appearance and character) are assigned to him, what he does, what he is afraid of, what relationship he has with the various elements of the surrounding world. Expressive expressions were also discussed, in which the invocation of the devil had only an intensifying function.
