The Definition and Criteria for Reasoning about Alternative Schools

Summary/Abstract: Nowadays it is becoming more and more popular to discuss alternative schools. The Lithuanian Ministry of Education and Science documents are oriented to the establishment of alternative schools. Society makes demand on these schools too. Unfortunately alternative schools meet the difficulties and these schools could not solve it alone. Furthermore, the conception of alternative school is conceptualized in a different way in Lithuania. This article points out the concept of the alternative school and its main criteria. This article investigates the modeling of the alternative school in the traditional and non-traditional fields; it highlights the development of pedagogical ideas. The conception and main criteria of the alternative school presume the possible modeling of the alternative school in traditional and non-traditional fields.
