Summary/Abstract: Croats who are one of the Balkan peoples founded independent Croatia after throughout long dependency periods they experienced ups and downs in past. Modern and young Croat state has preferred the its membership in NATO in 2009 and the EU in 2013. The article will sample which alliance policies Croatia operated on before and after NATO membership. The study aims to define Croatia, as a state with limited capacity, which has produced policies with different alliance possibilities over the years. So it is noteworthy to examine Croatia’s Western NATO membership and to evaluate the membership in terms of alliance theories.
