Summary/Abstract: The short story "The Forest Woman" by Ioan Slavici captures the drama of the soul of two young people in love, unable to respond their feelings due to an unwritten social code. Iorgovan, a rich young man, falls in love with Simina, the girl who comes every year to their farm, during the harvest time, together with his father and other forest living people. But, although his feelings are unstoppable, the boy is not able to face his father. The first who refuses to witness this plot is Neacșu, Simina's father, who leaves the household. But in a short time, he dies of cholera, and this tremendous sorrow induces Simina to leave the house and to give up Iorgovan for good. From this point, things get worse, and up to the tragic end of the boy, it is just a little bit.
